Myrtle Beach’s annual Taste of the Town awards, held Tuesday evening at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, celebrated the area’s finest cuisine. Local restaurants set up booths and presented their dishes to a discerning (and hungry) public. In case you missed it, here are some of the highlights, courtesy of Myrtle Beach Restaurant News:


  • Sea Captain’s House was the big winner of the night, earning first place in the Best Dessert and Best Entree categories for their sweet potato cake and lobster roll.
  • The children disagreed, however, voting Bimini’s Oyster Bar & Seafood Café as the best restaurant for an entree and Melting Pot as the hottest spot for dessert.
  • Bimini’s tiki bar setup earned the restaurant first place for Best Booth (Small), while the combined Carlos’N Charlie & Senor Frogs booths earned first place for Best Booth (Large).

Be sure to check it out next year; tickets start at around $5, and kids 14 and under get in free.
