Tonight is opening night of the Myrtle Beach International Film Festival, held at Carmike Cinema 16 at Broadway at the Beach. This nine day event will screen independent projects on all kinds of topics; you are pretty much guaranteed to find something that interests your inner movie buff.  Here is a sample of the schedule:

  • Shag Nation (4/21):  A documentary about the Carolina Shag and the charmingly quirky subculture behind it.
  • Wiggle Room (4/22): Stop-Motion Animation film about what happens around the house when you’re not there.
  • Lovers in Kiev (4/24): Anthology of short films by analogy with the project ‘Paris, I Love You’, ‘New York, I love you. ‘ Almanac will consist of 8 meters short of young Ukrainian filmmakers. The authors intend to show Ukrainian capital through the eyes of romantic youngsters.
