Move aside carts — golfboards are here! This hot new trend in the golfing world has made its way to True Blue Golf Plantation in Myrtle Beach. Fitting, since the Myrtle Beach area is considered the Golf Capital of the World. In fact, the Grand Strand is home to over 115 spectacular golf courses!

True Blue Golf Club is famous for its vast fairways, impressive elevation changes, and rolling terrain. This once thriving indigo and rice plantation is lush with native vegetation, making it one of the most gorgeous settings in golf. And the addition of golfboards makes the experience of golfing in Myrtle Beach all the more exciting! These stand up scooters have a holder for golf bags, and look like an electrical cross between a surfboard and skateboard. They are steered by shifting weight and will roll golfers up to 10 mph along the fairway.

In other news, The 55th Annual Canadian-American Days Festival will be held March 12th through 20th at various locations across the Grand Strand. In commemoration of this milestone anniversary, the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce will showcase the best in southern hospitality. Free events will include a number of fun activities, such as concerts, golf tournaments, and discounts for our neighbors to the north!

Good news for families traveling to the beach this summer! The North Myrtle Beach City Council is looking to appeal the ban on baby tents that passed in 2014. This ordinance prohibited shade devices on the beach, other than umbrellas, from May 15th to September 15th. North Myrtle Beach was the first to pass the ban, followed by Horry County and Myrtle Beach. Officials were hoping to prevent blocked views for the lifeguards and blocked paths for emergency vehicles. Since then, residents and visitors have expressed concerns. While such safety measures are understandable, many wanted exceptions for babies who need extra protection from the sun. The amendment to the ordinance would provide an exception for infants 18 months of age or younger. It would allow baby tents to be placed on the beach between May 15th and September 15th, provided that the tent is no larger than 31 inches in height by 31.5 inches in width by 38 inches in depth.
