Independence Day is smack in the middle of the week this year, but for those fortunate enough to escape to North Myrtle Beach for the holiday, there will still be plenty of stuff to do.
Fireworks at Barefoot Landing (7/4): Beginning at 10:15 p.m., these fireworks over the lake are a great way to wrap up a day of barbequing and beaching. If you’re looking something a little earlier, there is a fireworks display scheduled at Cherry Grove Pier at 9:30. Both events are free.
Independence Day 5K and 8K: Maybe sitting on the beach all day is not your thing; if so, sign up for this run at Grand Park. Register at The Market Common on either July 3 or 4; visit http://www.independenceday8k.com/ for more details.
Summer Soundfest at House of Blues: Nothing says “freedom” like free…music? Eh, that may be a stretch, but this all-ages series is a good chance to see some of the area’s best touring acts. It starts at 8 p.m. and will feature DownStroke.
Barefoot Princess Riverboat Fourth of July Celebration: Choose from either a two-hour dinner cruise or a 90 minute sunset and fireworks cruise. Tickets start at $11 for kids and $21 for adults. Reservations are required; visit http://www.mbriverboat.com/fourth-of-july-celebration-cruises/ for details.
