Halloween spirit

Do you love a good scare? Then check out these four ways to get in the Halloween Spirit during your autumn visit to the Myrtle Beach area! Read on, if you dare….

Ripley’s Haunted Adventure

Prepare yourself for an adrenaline pumping scare fest at Ripley’s Haunted Adventure. Taunting monsters and costumed ghouls will ask you to come inside the spooky factory, designed to resemble an abandoned warehouse with creepy noises, broken windows and more. While the outside may look scary, the inside is where the real horror resides!

Located just off of Ocean Boulevard in the heart of Myrtle Beach’s downtown district, this multi-million-dollar attraction features live actors, animatronics and modern special effects. With over 10,000 square feet, this three-story building contains an elevator where the adventure first begins. Upon entering, guests ride to the top floor to visit the “remains” of the run-down Grimsby & Streaper Import and Export Company (or so the fun story goes). An Igor-like character guides small groups through complete darkness and frightening scenes. Visitors are only allowed a small flashlight, which adds to the fun and suspense!

Ripley’s Haunted Adventure is open from noon until 9PM on Sundays through Thursdays, and stays open until 10PM on Fridays and Saturdays. Admission is $13.99 for ages 12 and over, and $7.99 for ages 6-11. Children 5 and under are not admitted. Beware: this attraction can appear quite haunted! Children or even adults that scare easily might want to skip this one. Consider packaging your tickets with other nearby Ripley’s attractions for discounted rates.

Nightmare Haunted House

Established in the mid 1980s, this attraction has continued to be the scariest dark attraction in Myrtle Beach for more than 20 years. Located off of North Ocean Boulevard, the Nightmare Haunted House may make you scream as you traverse in and out of darkness with over 4,000 square feet of terror. Morbid grunts and terrifying moans will keep you on your toes as you wonder what is lurking just beyond the next corner. Could it be the undead? Warning: You are what they eat! General admission is $12.95 per person and $9.95 for kids 12 and under. Nightmare Haunted House opens at 4PM Monday through Friday, noon on Saturday and Sunday, and stays open late. Again, this attraction is not for the faint of heart.

Outbreak

Located at the Hollywood Wax Museum across from Broadway at the Beach, Outbreak calls on you to help with this post-apocalyptic adventure. Guess will experience chills through all the senses as sounds, fog, sights, aerosol attacks and even smells make this nightmare come to life. The story goes like this: Chemacorp is in trouble and the military needs your help. Something went horribly wrong when the test subjects were exposed to Alpha Strain and these genetically altered soldiers are made to be the ultimate destroyers on the battlefield. They will only win if the outbreak isn’t contained. Enjoy hyper-realistic zombie characters, with randomized body motions, for a life-life performance that ensues characters never move quite the same way twice! Assist with clean-up and disposal in this creepy zombie-filled scenario. Prepare for chills to the bone with an adventure you’ll always remember! Adult admission is $15.00, $10.00 for children 4-11, and free for children 3 and under.

Dr. Scream’s Scream Park

This Halloween season, The House of Blues presents Dr. Scream’s Scream Park, featuring Dr. Scream’s Fright Manor, Chuckles Twisted Circus, and Zombie Apocalypse. That’s three horrifying experiences for the price of one! Tickets are $20.00 per person, but for $25.00 more, you can skip the line and partake in the Fright and Bite Dinner Package. After dining at the House of Blues Restaurant and Bar, located at Barefoot Landing, you’ll get priority entrance into Dr. Scream’s Scream Park, so it’s well worth the extra cash. Tickets for this special event can be purchased at the Myrtle Beach House of Blues website.
